Meerut is a metropolitan city, and it is the biggest city in NCR after Delhi. The nearest airport is the Indira Gandhi International airport which is about 80 km away. By road, Meerut is well-connected to Delhi, NOIDA, Hapur, Faridabad, Modinagar, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Haridwar, etc. A large number of people commute to Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon every day for work. Three national highways (NH-58, NH-119 & NE 3 (Delhi–Meerut Expressway) pass through Meerut.
There are 2 main Bus Terminals Bhainsali Bus Terminal and Shorab Gate Bus Terminal from where Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) Buses serve cities all over the state. Meerut has two Railway Stations Meerut City and Meerut Cantt. The city is well connected to Delhi Ghaziabad, Agra, Dehradun and others.
Delhi – Meerut RRTS (RAPIDX) is an 82.15 km semi-high speed rail line that is currently under construction. It will feature 22 stations and will connect the cities of Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut through a combination of tunnels and elevated viaducts. Managed by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the Delhi - Meerut RRTS is one of the three early bird lines planned for Phase 1 development. Once operational, trains on this line will achieve a maximum speed of 160 km/hr, enabling commuters to cover the entire 82.15 km distance in just one hour, making travel faster and more convenient for passengers.
Hotel Cab, Private Taxi, City Buses, Auto Rickshaw and Rickshaw are the convenient option to commute within the city. The Metro Rail Project has been passed and it will be running very soon in the city of Meerut. Many new projects have already been passed like INNER RING ROAD, OUTER RING ROAD and construction of new flyovers. An airport (BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR DOMESTIC AIRPORT) is also under construction and is expected to be working soon.
